It all started with a backhoe and a dream. In 1979 at the age of 21, Glenn Kafka purchased a backhoe at a local auction for $8,500. A couple of years later, while chatting with a neighbor around a campfire, he was offered an opportunity to purchase a 40-acre granite pit. Over the past 40 years, Kafka Granite has steadily grown from a supplier of decomposed granite road material into one of the most diverse and robust suppliers of specialty aggregates in North America, crushing over 50 colors of stone in countless sizes. These aggregates are used in a variety of applications, including: pathway material, landscape stone, precast concrete, terrazzo flooring, and many more.

After purchasing a quarry that contained a precious mica-enriched quartzite in many colors, Kafka Granite began to produce natural thin stone veneer in 2018. This dazzling natural stone, along with the other classic Kafka colors our customers know and love, quickly became a unique and diverse line of high-end masonry stone products. Taken from our various quarries throughout North America, the product is handcrafted in the United States.
